Bowed Instruments Settings
VirtualScore provides visualization models for all the modern string family instruments:
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass (Contrabass)
These virtual instruments can visualize all occurrences of single or multiple notes they respond to, similar to when using standard notation mode settings option in plucked instruments.
Positions Selection
Although string instruments are unfretted, the visualization models respond primarily to standard notation data. You can limit note occurrences by specifying which positions you want the visualization to be applied on.
Selecting a position or set of positions filters out notes that don’t belong to the chosen position(s), excluding them from visualization. Each string instrument model has its unique Positions Selection settings.
String Instrument Settings
Show Note Labels
A common setting across instruments. For more information, refer to the Instrument Settings overview section for common settings.
Ignore Selected Positions
This option allows the visualizer to disregard the currently selected position(s), including all note occurrences on the fingerboard. It’s useful for temporary full-range visualization without manually changing the Positions Selection.
Position Markers Mode
This setting controls the visibility of Position Markers:
- All: Show all markers regardless of selected positions
- Positions: Show only markers corresponding to selected positions
- None: Hide all position markers
Show Finger Placement
Displays subtle markings on the fingerboard indicating finger placement. This option is available only for the violin and viola visualization models.
