The Instrument Toolbar

The Instrument Toolbar provides instrument-specific functions. Initially disabled when a Score Document is first opened, these controls activate upon successfully adding an instrument through the Instrument Selection menu.

1Reset Rotation
  • Resets the instrument to its initial rotation
  • Disabled by default until a rotation is performed
  • For instruments added via Viewing Preset, resets to the preset’s stored rotation
2Rotation Gizmo
  • Toggles visibility of rotation controls.
  • Allows rotation around x, y, and z axes.
  • Each tap rotates 22.5°; four taps perform 90° rotation.

3Mirror Instrument
  • Mirrors the instrument along a pre-determined axis (usually x-axis)
  • When enabled, the instrument rotation gizmo cannot be enabled
  • When enabled and the instrument rotation gizmo is enabled, the gizmo gets disabled automatically
  • Supported for certain instruments to improve visualization readability

    A snapshot of the cello virtual instrument- notice the Mirroring button in Instrument Toolbar is enabled. The C string should be farthest to the right from the player’s perspective which aligns with the flipped version of the instrument, making it easier and faster to mentally interpret the visualized notes

4Instrument Settings
  • Accesses the selected instrument’s instrument’s settings menu
  • Contains instrument-specific and family-wide options
  • Family-wide options are labeled “SHARED”
