Strict Mode Section

Strict Mode ensures that MIDI input exactly matches the expected input shown in Learn Mode’s Notes Panel.

Learn Mode’s sidebar in both expanded and collapsed states

Default Behavior vs. Strict Mode

Default Behavior

  • Tolerant interpretation of input data
  • Only checks if required input is provided
  • Ignores wrong inputs or delays between input notes

Example: For a C4 Major chord (C4, E4, G4), input of Cmaj7 (C4, E4, G4, B4) is considered correct.

Strict Mode

  • Requires exact match of input to expected notes
  • Considers timing and accuracy of input

Example: For a C4 Major chord, only C4, E4, G4 without errors or delays is considered correct.

Time-Window Feature

  • Captures MIDI controller input as a single unit within a specified duration
  • Ensures precise playing of chord notes simultaneously
  • Selectable time-window durations: 50ms, 75ms, 100ms

Benefits of Strict Mode

  1. Improves accuracy of playing
  2. Enhances timing precision, especially for chords
  3. Provides a more challenging practice environment

How to Use

  1. Enable Strict Mode in Learn Mode’s sidebar
  2. Select desired time-window duration
  3. Perform input exactly as shown in Notes Panel within the specified time-window
